Development Approach

South Africa’s 2025 Generation Connection Capacity Assessment recorded zero megawatts of available traditional connection capacity across the Cape Corridor. That finding has pushed development pipelines toward provinces where capacity still exists. The Limpopo portfolio predates that shift, with the lead project through land and community rights and the remainder of the portfolio progressing behind it.

Clustering the portfolio across three substations lets environmental, community and grid work compound across projects rather than restart with each one. That’s a deliberate response to where renewable development actually stalls in South Africa: not at the resource level, but at land certainty, grid queue discipline and community misalignment discovered too late.

Battery storage is integrated from inception across all projects, sized for SAWEM’s capacity remuneration and ancillary services markets. Project configurations are aligned with the IRP 2025 generation mix.
